The paving of Ashe St. Tralee which inconvenienced traders for months in 2006 has proven to have failed. Walk along the street and experience the uneven surface, drive along the street and experience the uneven surface. At what cost to gain an eneven surface? At what inconvenience to traders and consumers? Who will pay for remedial works? What further inconveniences?

True, the problem most people i think have with council work is the the care taken in comparision to the work done by private contractors is appaling. There is and will be no accountability for 1. the length of time taken to make the path in the first place and 2. the uneven surface. this would not be tolerated in the private sector and should be even more accountable when public money is envolved
